Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has introduced its new initiative, Visa Intelligent Commerce, aiming to revolutionise the way AI agents will interact with commerce.

The solution is designed to empower developers and businesses by allowing them to leverage Visa’s payment network for AI-driven transactions.

This new initiative will enable AI agents to handle tasks such as browsing, selecting, purchasing, and managing payments on behalf of users. By expanding its capabilities, Visa is making it easier for AI platforms, banks, fintechs, merchants, and tech players to build innovative payment experiences.

Visa’s strategic push to integrate AI into commerce highlights the growing need for secure, scalable, and innovative payment solutions. As AI continues to shape consumer experiences, Visa is focused on ensuring its payment network is equipped to handle the increasing demands of AI-driven commerce.

This product launch aims to meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

In addition to Visa Intelligent Commerce, Visa has announced new stablecoin partnerships aimed at expanding its reach to more consumers globally.

The company is also growing its Flex Credential platform, which offers users the ability to seamlessly toggle between payment methods, including credit, debit, and buy now, pay later options.

Furthermore, Visa’s collaboration with Klarna will introduce the Flex Credential to the U.S. and Europe, providing consumers more flexibility when it comes to payment options.

Visa CEO Ryan McInerney said, “As new ways to pay emerge, they need to run on a network that is always on — that is safe, secure, scalable and relentlessly innovating. We are taking the power of our network and our decades-long expertise to bring new products and solutions that will transform commerce and bring trust and security to AI-enabled payments.”

Visa’s Chief Product and Strategy Officer Jack Forestell added, “We see tremendous potential for the role AI agents will play in commerce, from streamlining ‘regular’ transaction-driven tasks such as ordering groceries, to more sophisticated search and decision-making like securing that hard-to-get restaurant reservation or concert ticket.”
