Agentic AI-powered penetration testing startup Terra Security on Wednesday announced raising $8 million in seed funding.
The investment round was led by SYN Ventures and FXP Ventures, with additional support from Underscore VC and several angel investors.
Founded in 2024, Terra has built a continuous web application pen testing solution that leverages agentic AI while also relying on a human-in-the-loop mechanism for increased accuracy and reliability.
The platform uses AI agents that are tailored for an organization’s environment and which adapt in real time, autonomously running tests when new vulnerabilities are discovered.
To help organizations identify risks and ensure compliance, the startup creates a custom test plan for each customer, where every web application is tested by dozens of AI agents supervised by a human expert.
The new funding will allow Terra to advance the offensive security platform and add new capabilities to its AI agents, as well as to grow its customer base. The startup plans to add an agentic AI red teaming component and to expand its platform to cover customers’ entire networks.
The company says its solution is already used by multiple organizations, including Fortune 500 companies.
“We strongly believe that our platform will transform the narrative around pen testing and ethical hacking by infusing accuracy, efficiency, business context, and continuous pen-testing via agentic AI. No longer will pen-testing simply be viewed as an item on a compliance checklist, but as the most effective security capability of a robust security posture,” Terra co-founder and CEO Shahar Peled said.
