Pliant, a Berlin-based FinTech focused on modernising corporate card infrastructure, has acquired Vienna-based InsurTech hi.health to streamline and digitise outdated reimbursement workflows within the insurance sector.
While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the strategic partnership represents a significant milestone in both companies’ missions to enhance user and insurer experiences through advanced financial technology.
Following the acquisition, hi.health will continue to operate as an independent entity under the Pliant umbrella.
It will leverage Pliant’s infrastructure and payments capabilities to enhance its platform further and expand its reach in the insurance space.
The integration of services is expected to bring about a more streamlined and user-centric experience in the InsurTech sector.
hi.health co-founder and CEO Sebastian Gruber said in a LinkedIn post, “Thrilled to finally share some big news: hi.health has been acquired by Pliant! This is a major milestone in our journey to redefine how payments work within the insurance industry. Joining forces with Pliant allows us to think even bigger – combining our insurance expertise with their world-class payments infrastructure.
“When we started hi.health, our vision was clear: eliminate the complexity of insurance reimbursements and improve the overall experience for members. This next chapter brings us closer to that vision.
“I’m super proud of our team and grateful to Fredrik Debong, my co-founder, and all the incredible people who’ve helped us get here – investors, partners, insurers, and of course, our users. A big thank you to Malte Rau, Fabian Terner and the amazing team at Pliant for sharing our belief that complex financial processes and workflows in insurance should be made simple. Excited for what’s ahead!”
