Klarna, the Swedish BNPL giant, and Clover, the world’s smartest POS system, have entered a strategic agreement to auto-enable Klarna’s flexible payment solutions across more than 100,000 U.S. retail and service business locations.

The partnership is designed to enhance the in-store shopping experience by enabling customers to use Klarna’s payment options directly through Clover POS terminals.

By doing so, the companies intend to empower small businesses to attract more customers, drive conversions, and increase sales by offering more convenient payment flexibility.

Klarna offers a wide range of flexible payment methods including immediate debit, which comprises one in four global transactions, and interest-free instalment payment plans. This suite of options supports both consumer convenience and retailer sales performance.

Clover, a Fiserv brand, provides an all-in-one POS solution that helps small businesses streamline operations.

It offers robust hardware and software for payments, accounting, inventory, staff management, loyalty programmes, and more. By integrating Klarna, Clover further strengthens its offering for merchants looking to enhance both online and in-store customer experiences.

The partnership rollout begins with select Clover-powered merchants now displaying the Klarna logo on payment terminal pre-screens.

A full rollout is expected in early 2026. Beyond the initial in-store integration, Klarna and Clover have plans to expand into e-commerce and explore further geographic opportunities, indicating a broader vision for the collaboration.

The move underscores Klarna’s growing emphasis on in-store retail, aiming to complement its already significant online presence.

This expansion into physical storefronts marks a continued evolution in the company’s mission to revolutionise payments at every consumer touchpoint.

Klarna chief commercial officer David Sykes said, “We’re bringing Klarna to Main Street. Klarna started by changing how people pay online — now we’re changing how they pay everywhere. With Clover, we’re meeting shoppers where they are and giving small businesses a powerful new way to grow.”

Fiserv head of merchant solutions Jennifer LaClair said, “Clover is excited to join forces with Klarna to leverage our strong presence across U.S. services, and retail, to power and engage consumers at key moments—before, during, and after checkout.”
