Google has completed the acquisition of Wiz, expanding its influence in the rapidly growing cloud computing and cybersecurity sectors.

The transaction, valued at $32bn and subject to closing adjustments, will be conducted in an all-cash deal, with Wiz set to integrate into Google Cloud post-acquisition.

This acquisition aims to bolster Google Cloud’s capabilities, particularly in addressing the critical needs for enhanced cloud security and supporting multicloud environments. The deal not only signifies a major investment in two rapidly evolving trends—improved cloud security and multicloud usage—but also highlights the increasing role of AI in shaping these sectors.

Wiz specializes in providing a user-friendly security platform that connects seamlessly with all major cloud services and coding environments, helping to mitigate cybersecurity risks. It caters to a diverse clientele, including startups, large enterprises, and various governmental and public sector organizations. Wiz has established itself as an innovative leader in the field, continually launching new products and expanding its suite of cybersecurity solutions, especially over the past year.

Conversely, Google Cloud stands out as a powerhouse in cloud infrastructure, renowned for its deep AI expertise and consistent delivery of pioneering security innovations. By incorporating Wiz, Google Cloud intends to enhance the existing security measures, making them more robust and scalable to benefit a wider range of users across different cloud platforms.

Furthermore, the integration promises to significantly advance how security is conceptualized, managed, and automated, ensuring comprehensive protection across the AI landscape. It aims to scale cybersecurity teams by offering an automated platform, reduce the costs associated with security implementations, and defend against the evolving threats brought about by AI advancements.

The collaboration will also promote the adoption of multicloud security solutions, facilitating users’ ability to operate across various cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Wiz’s products will remain accessible on these platforms and will be integrated into Google Cloud’s Marketplace through various partner security solutions.
