Sentra, a US firm known for securing sensitive data across cloud and AI-powered environments, has secured $50m in its Series B funding round.

The investment was led by Key1 Capital, with participation from existing backers Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, and Munich Re Ventures. This latest round brings the company’s total funding to more than $100m.

Sentra develops a data security platform that provides organisations with advanced protection across multi-cloud, on-premises, and AI environments. Its unique approach involves scanning data within the customer’s infrastructure, maintaining the security posture while reducing operational costs and ensuring broad coverage. The platform’s AI-powered classification engine achieves over 95% accuracy and leverages large language models (LLMs) to adapt to specific business contexts.

The fresh injection of capital will enable Sentra to scale its platform further, hire more data security experts, and enhance its capabilities to help organisations secure cloud and AI workflows. The firm aims to address the pressing need for greater visibility and control amid the growing complexity and volume of enterprise data brought on by widespread AI adoption.

This investment comes as businesses face a surge in so-called “shadow data”—information that proliferates across cloud systems without adequate oversight—posing compliance and cybersecurity challenges. As AI technologies are increasingly embedded in enterprise workflows, the need to protect data assets has intensified.

Sentra has recently introduced new features within its Cloud-Native Data Security Platform to address AI-specific risks, including threats from generative AI and AI assistants. The platform has been expanded to deliver enhanced detection and prevention mechanisms aimed at reducing data exposure and closing compliance gaps.

Key1 Capital managing partner Danny Akerman said, “Organisations were already struggling to keep pace with data as we navigated the move to the cloud and hybrid architectures. Intensified data regulations combined with AI’s rapid enterprise adoption have dramatically escalated these challenges. Without taking proactive steps to secure all data, companies will open themselves up to increased exposure, operational disruptions, and compliance failures. Sentra is uniquely positioned to address this critical problem by delivering essential visibility and control needed to secure sensitive data across multi-cloud, on-premises, and AI-powered environments – without slowing innovation.”

Sentra CEO and co-founder Yoav Regev added, “AI is only as secure as the data behind it. Every organisation we work with is racing to leverage AI but is equally as concerned about exposing sensitive data. Sentra gives them the reassurance and confidence they need to move fast by securing data at every stage. With this new funding, we’re doubling down on helping enterprises secure their data everywhere and adopt AI confidently so they can innovate without compromising trust.”
