At least 11 state-sponsored threat groups have been abusing Windows shortcut files for espionage and data theft, according to an analysis by Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative (ZDI). Shortcut files, also referred to as LNK or .lnk files, use the Shell Link binary file format to store information for accessing other data objects. Google on Tuesday confirmed reports that it’s in the process of acquiring cloud security giant Wiz in a $32 billion all-cash deal. Google on Tuesday announced new products and features aimed at healthcare use cases, including improved overviews in Google Search for health queries, medical records APIs, and new health-focused “open” AI models. In Search, Google says it’s using AI and ranking systems to expand “knowledge panel” answers on thousands of health-related topics, and adding support for healthcare queries in Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese on mobile.
