Grain, a FinTech company focused on optimising foreign exchange (FX) for cross-border transactions, has secured over $50m in new funding to advance its AI-powered platform.
The funding includes a $33m Series A round led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Aleph, Vessey Ventures and Hanaco Ventures. This follows an earlier $18m seed round, bringing Grain’s total funding to date above $50m.
Grain specialises in providing embedded FX solutions for B2B platforms, marketplaces, and payment providers. Its technology is designed to mitigate currency risk in real time while helping businesses dynamically price transactions at the point of sale. By integrating directly into sales interfaces, the platform automatically adjusts pricing based on each customer’s specific profile.
The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate product development and expand Grain’s team. The company, which currently employs 25 staff, plans to double its workforce by the end of the year.
Grain’s approach addresses the growing complexity of global trade, where more than 300bn cross-border transactions take place annually, representing over $150trn in value. With increasing geopolitical uncertainty and market volatility, businesses are seeking automated tools to manage FX risk in real time.
Grain co-founder and CEO Dor Golan said, “Global commerce moves faster than ever, yet FX volatility continues to create barriers for businesses operating across borders.
“At Grain, we’ve set out to shift the paradigm by turning FX from a challenge into a competitive advantage. Our platform enables CFOs to eliminate currency exposure with precision while simultaneously driving revenue growth. This new funding marks a pivotal milestone in our mission to become the go-to FX optimization and automated hedging solution for online marketplaces, software platforms, and payment providers that want to give their customers the certainty and cost advantage needed to scale globally.”
Bain Capital Ventures partner Mark Fiorentino said, “Founder-market fit is important, and it’s difficult to find a better example of this than the Grain team as evidenced by their unique technical and commercial expertise in cross-border payments and connectivity within the banking ecosystem.
“They’ve built Grain with an AI-native, user-first ethos, which means they can deliver greater stability, cost savings, and even revenue uplift for customers while reducing their largest operational headaches.”
