Hiscox, a specialist global insurer, has named Phil Withey as chief technology officer (CTO) for its London Market division, strengthening its leadership team as it continues to prioritise digital transformation.
The company, which operates globally in the specialty insurance sector, is focused on enhancing client service, underwriting capabilities and operational efficiency through digital innovation and investment in artificial intelligence.
Hiscox London Market underwrites complex international risks through Lloyd’s of London. The business has been actively modernising its technology stack to improve agility and service delivery in an increasingly competitive insurance landscape.
Withey brings over 20 years of experience in financial services technology. He joins from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he held several senior roles, including head of architecture for FTSE Russell, Shared Technology, and Data and Analytics. He most recently led architecture for LSEG’s multi-billion-dollar transformation partnership with Microsoft.
He will join Hiscox in June, reporting jointly to group CIO Chris Loake and London Market CEO Kate Markham. Based in London, Withey will also sit on the leadership team and oversee tech strategy, trading systems transformation, and the division’s data and AI initiatives.
Withey has also held previous roles at Barclays Capital and Threadneedle Investments, bringing deep sector knowledge to his new post.
