5 ChatGPT prompts to start a business with no money

Starting a business does not require money. Plenty of businesses started with zero capital because they got paid before they built anything. When you get this right, your customers become your investors. It’s totally possible for anyone. It’s possible for you.

In 2025, all you need is an internet connection, plenty of enthusiasm, and a way of creating value that people are willing to pay for. The rest will follow. Copy, paste and edit the square brackets in ChatGPT, and keep the same chat window open so the context carries through.

Start your business using ChatGPT: zero capital required

Talk to successful people

Most people never start enough conversations with strangers, but those conversations could lead to your dream business. The most successful entrepreneurs talk to everyone. They get referrals. They build networks. They learn what works. Start conversations with business owners about their journey. Ask what kinds of businesses their friends run. Seek out people who look successful and find out how they made it happen.

“Guide me through creating a networking strategy to connect with successful entrepreneurs in my area. Ask me questions about my interests, skills, and the types of businesses I’m curious about. Then help me craft 5 non-pushy conversation starters I can use when meeting potential mentors or business contacts. Include suggestions for where to find these people and how to follow up effectively after initial meetings.”

Define your dream customer

When I founded my social media agency at 22, I knew exactly who I wanted to help. I focused on local B2B business owners who valued their time more than money and needed someone to handle their social media presence. Get specific about who energizes you. Write down their job title, industry, age range, and problems. The more you understand them, the easier it becomes to create something they’ll pay for.

“Help me identify my ideal customer by examining my interests and strengths. Ask me questions about what types of people I enjoy working with, what problems I’m passionate about solving, and what skills I bring to the table. After gathering this information, create a detailed profile of my dream customer including their demographics, psychographics, where they spend time online and offline, and what content they consume. End with 3 specific next steps I can take to immerse myself in their world.”

Discover problems worth solving

Most businesses fail because founders create products nobody wants. They waste months building something before talking to a single customer. You need to reverse this. Talk to your dream customers about what frustrates them. Get them complaining. What keeps them up at night? What do they wish existed? What would make their life easier? Listen for patterns. Write down their exact words. Their complaints become your business plan. The problems they mention repeatedly signal the biggest opportunities.

“I want to uncover profitable business opportunities by identifying problems my target audience faces. Create a list of 10 thoughtful questions I could ask potential customers to reveal their pain points, frustrations, and unmet needs. These questions should be conversational, non-leading, and designed to uncover both surface-level issues and deeper challenges. Include 5 separate follow-up questions that dig deeper into problem areas. After creating the question list, suggest 3 different approaches for gathering these insights through conversations with my target audience.”

Link problems to money

Your winning business idea is simply a problem someone will pay you to solve. But not every complaint represents a business opportunity. Ask potential customers directly: “If I could solve this problem for you, what would that be worth?” Get them to put a number on it. Find out what they’ve paid for similar solutions before. The sweet spot lies where their willingness to pay meets your ability to deliver. Test different offers in conversation. Use phrases like “Would you be interested in…” or “How does this sound…” to gauge real interest. Only move forward when you know the money exists.

“Guide me in developing a pricing strategy for my business idea. Ask me about the specific problem I’m solving and who my target customers are. Help me research what these customers currently pay for similar solutions by suggesting research methods and specific questions to ask. Then assist me in creating 3 different pricing options (low, medium, and high) with corresponding value offers. Include scripts I can use to tactfully discuss pricing with potential customers to gauge their willingness to pay.”

Find your first paying customer

Talk to potential customers until one says “I need this now.” Then deliver exactly what they asked for. Be clear about outcomes and timelines. Give yourself a deadline and beat it. Over-deliver on your first project to secure a glowing testimonial. That testimonial becomes your ticket to customer number two, three, and beyond. Charge what they agreed to pay. Do exceptional work. Ask for referrals. Repeat until your business grows. No capital required. Just deliver value first, then scale with the money you earn.

“Help me secure my first paying customer for my new business. I’m offering [describe your service] to [target audience]. Create a detailed action plan that includes: 1) How to identify and reach out to 10 potential customers this week, 2) A persuasive pitch script that emphasizes the problem I solve without sounding desperate, 3) Clear next steps for turning interest into a paid agreement, and 4) A simple system for delivering exceptional results that exceed expectations. Include tips for asking for testimonials and referrals after successful delivery.”

Build your business with zero capital: start today

No need for investors, savings, or loans, you can start right now. Talk to successful people about their journey. Define exactly who you want to serve. Discover what problems they’ll pay to solve. Find out how much they’ll pay. Secure commitment before you build. And go from there.

You don’t need a website, business cards, or an office. You need customers. The rest can come later. Stop making excuses and start getting out there.
